SEN Teaching Assistant - Wigan

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant required for Wigan based Secondary school in September.

  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting identified pupils and pupils on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) on a 1:1 basis
  • 12 month temporary position starting in September, with the potential of securing a permanent position dependent on funding.
  • Typical earnings of £1000-£1200 per month depending on experience.
  • Previous experience working with students with Special Education Needs is essential to be considered for this position.

With a number of identified students joining our client secondary school in September there is an additional requirement for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within the support department at the school. This will involve working with several pupils who have special educational needs including Emotional and Behavioural problems or those with specific conditions such as Autism and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Previous experience of working with disadvantaged pupils with special educational needs is essential as you will be expected to motivate them to engage in daily school life. You must also act as a positive influence in their lives and display high amounts of professionalism at all times e.g. being able to build rapport with the pupils whilst maintaining levels of discipline.

"The number of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities supported by the school is well above the national average. The number of pupils who have a statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care plan is in line with the national average." Ofsted

Our client Secondary school is slightly larger than the national average with approximately 900 pupils on roll. Located between Hindley and Westhoughton, the school is just a short drive away from the A577 and has an abundance of public transportation links to surrounding areas; Bolton, Salford and Wigan.

The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is looking to meet with interested candidates within the first couple of weeks of the school term. So to register your interest, please send an updated CV to Zack via the link below. Alternatively, please contact the Manchester West Secondary branch for further information.
