Multiple Roles Available – Secondary & SEN Schools
Location: Wirral, Merseyside
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time (part-time considered for suitable candidates)

Teaching Personnel Liverpool is working in close partnership with a number of Secondary and Specialist SEN schools across the Wirral, and we are looking to recruit enthusiastic, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our growing team for the 2025/26 academic year.

About the Role:

You will be supporting students with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), learning difficulties, and complex needs. Your role may include 1:1 support, small group work, and general in-class assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN to access the curriculum
  • Assist with personal care and medical needs where required (training provided if necessary)
  • Support classroom teachers in managing behaviour and implementing learning strategies
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in a school, care, or support setting)
  • A compassionate and resilient attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs
  • A commitment to supporting the learning and wellbeing of all pupils

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Certificate, Psychology/SEN-related degree)
  • Team Teach or positive handling training
  • Experience with PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems
