SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools (St Helens & Surrounding Areas)
Location: High schools in and around St Helens
Pay: Competitive rates depending on experience
Start Date: Immediate and September starts available

We are looking for dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistants to work across secondary schools in St Helens and nearby areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.
Role Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language needs.

Assist class teachers in adapting lesson activities to meet individual learning requirements.

Encourage positive behaviour and support emotional well-being in and out of the classroom.

Help with classroom resources, preparation, and record-keeping to support learning plans.
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support for each student.
Requirements:
-
Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in school or other settings).
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
-
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
-
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-specific training, or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential).

Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
