SEN Specialist – Secondary Education
Location: Twickenham, Richmond upon Thames
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time (Term-time only), Permanent
About the role:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced SEN Specialist to join our inclusive secondary school community in Twickenham. You will take a lead role in supporting students with a wide range of additional needs—including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and specific learning difficulties—ensuring they can access a full, engaging curriculum and thrive both academically and personally.
Working closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external agencies, you'll help shape and deliver tailored interventions, monitor progress, and be a key point of support for staff, students, and families.
Key responsibilities:

Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for students with EHCPs or high needs

Advise and train staff on strategies for differentiation, classroom management, and inclusive teaching

Support with writing and reviewing pupil passports and personalised plans

Monitor and evaluate the progress of students receiving SEN support

Liaise with external professionals (EPs, therapists, outreach) to implement specialist guidance

Develop strong partnerships with parents/carers to support student wellbeing and progress

Contribute to whole-school SEN policy, provision mapping, and CPD where appropriate
What we're looking for:

Substantial experience working with secondary-aged students with SEND
-
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
-
Ideally holds a specialist qualification (e.g., SpLD, Autism, ELSA, or SENCO accreditation)

Skilled in managing complex cases and working collaboratively with multi-agency teams
-
Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
-
A belief in inclusion and high expectations for all learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
