SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity – Supporting Children and Young People with Additional Needs in the Greater Norwich Area

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and additional learning needs? Do you have experience working with children and want to make a meaningful difference in their educational journey? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils across the Greater Norwich area. Our schools and specialist provisions are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive. We recognise that each pupil has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles, and we work closely with them to provide tailored support that helps them achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children and young people with needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities, and other additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEN and additional needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Build positive relationships that promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support the development of communication, social interaction, and self-regulation skills.
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage the development of functional literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and support pupils in achieving their personal goals.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, families, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN and additional needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • The ability to adapt to different learning environments and individual pupil needs.
  • Confidence in supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
  • A full UK driving licence would be beneficial, as some placements may involve travel between schools or supporting pupils in different locations across the Greater Norwich area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
