A school in Leeds (LS16) are looking for a full-time SEN Support Assistant to start in Septmeber. If you are experienced in supporting SEN children of primary school age and can travel to the North Leeds area, then this could be the job for you!
The school want someone with experience of 1:1 care in any capacity, as this role requires dedicated personal care for an ASC child in year 5 who needs help sustained support throughout the day both in and out of class. The student can be at times both physically and verbally abusive so the ideal candidate would be used to handling these kinds of situations. Any qualification such as Team Teach would be extremely useful for this role as it would exhibit strong behaviour management and the ability to de-escalate situations where the child is angry.
The role is until the end of the academic year, as this child will need an adult accompanying them throughout the school day. Experience in dealing with SEN children is an absolute necessity for this role, but any experience in personal care would be equally as useful, as this role will involve many responsibilities similar to those in the care industry. Likewise, any experience in an SEN school used to dealing with in a role that required personal care would also be appreciated and valued by the school. The role also requires planning with the class teacher the work that the child will do throughout the term, as well as keeping track of their progress.
To apply, please submit your CV where indicated and we will be in touch about handling your application!
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
