Teacher of Food Technology

Blackburn, Lancashire Full-Time | November 2026 - July 2027 MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Blackburn is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Food Technology to join their Design & Technology department from November 2026 until July 2027.

This is a full-time position and would suit both experienced teachers and ECTs who are passionate about delivering engaging practical lessons and inspiring students to develop essential cooking, nutrition and food preparation skills.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Teach practical and theory-based elements of the curriculum, including nutrition, food science and healthy eating.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and school community.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills.
  • Can motivate and inspire learners of varying abilities.
  • Is organised, proactive and committed to raising standards.
