SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) – Mainstream Primary School in Garstang

Location: Garstang
Start date: ASAP or September 2026
Contract: Flexible hours – role based on school need
Salary: £14.25–£15.00 per hour (PAYE)

Teaching Personnel are supporting a welcoming mainstream primary school in the Garstang area who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil requiring additional support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and thrive in an inclusive school environment.


About the Role

As the 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide personalised support to a pupil with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or Speech & Language).
  • Adapt learning activities and scaffold tasks to support progress and engagement.
  • Promote independence, emotional regulation, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals.
  • Build a supportive and trusting relationship with the pupil.

About You

You will be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school, nursery, care or youth setting.
  • Are calm, patient, and adaptable.
  • Have strong communication skills and can build positive relationships.
  • Are passionate about supporting children both academically and emotionally.

A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
