1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support learning, emotional regulation, and personal development throughout the school day.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about inclusion and making a real difference to a child’s educational experience.
Location: Burnley
Hours: Full-time (term time only) 8:30am – 3:30pm
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN
- Assist with learning activities, adapting tasks as needed
- Support social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans
- Encourage independence and confidence
- Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Support safeguarding and wellbeing at all times
About You
- Experience working with children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
- Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow guidance and adapt support strategies
- Relevant TA qualification desirable but not essential
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
