Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential?

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.

SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Full-Time: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
  • Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and school trips where required.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can adapt their support to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Remains calm and positive when managing challenging situations.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
