Teaching Assistant (Sports-Focused) – ALN ‍♂️

Locations: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday–Friday, no weekends!)
Start Date: Ongoing roles available


About the Role

Teaching Personnel are looking for energetic, sporty, and proactive Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in schools across Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

This is a hands-on, active role where sport, movement, and engagement are key ‍♀️⚽. Many pupils benefit from physical activity, outdoor learning, and structured sports sessions to help improve focus, behaviour, confidence, and wellbeing.

Perfect for candidates with a passion for sport, coaching, or fitness who want to make a real difference in education


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with ALN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Deliver and assist with sports, games, and physical activities
  • Encourage teamwork, participation, and confidence building
  • Use activity-based learning to engage pupils
  • Support behaviour management in a positive and proactive way
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and active environment

Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Sporty, active, and full of energy
  • Confident in building relationships with pupils and staff
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Passionate about using sport and movement to support learning
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and proactive in approach

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • EWC Registration (Education Workforce Council) or willingness to register
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience working with children with ALN / SEN / behavioural needs
  • Background in sports coaching, gym instruction, or PE ️‍♂️
  • Relevant qualifications such as:
    • Sports Coaching / Sports Science
    • Physical Education (PE)
    • Psychology or Education
  • Coaching badges (e.g. FA, rugby, or other sports) ⚽
  • First Aid or behaviour training
  • Full UK Driving Licence (ideal)
