You will work closely with pupils who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, sensory needs, and associated behavioural challenges. Your role will be to support pupils in accessing learning, developing independence, and achieving their individual targets.

A Typical Day

No two days are the same. The role can be physically and emotionally demanding but is highly rewarding for individuals who are committed to helping young people achieve their potential.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families.
  • Support personal care and medical needs where required.
  • Assist with moving and handling duties following training.
  • Contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience supporting children, young people, or adults with additional needs, learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs; OR substantial transferable experience from care, healthcare, residential care, youth work, early years, or similar support-based roles.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to contribute positively to the wider school community.
  • Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential.
  • A willingness to undertake personal care and physical support duties where required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay of £14.25 per hour.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • A supportive leadership team and experienced staff.
  • Opportunities to develop specialist skills within special education.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with complex needs.

We are looking for individuals who are hardworking, reliable, and committed to maintaining the high standards expected within our school. This role would suit someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and who understands the importance of consistency, professionalism, and high expectations.
