Job description

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant for Pupil with Global Development Delay

Location: Cardiff

Pay: Min £83.85 per day

Hours: Mon – Fri 8:30-3:30

Start: 6th May 2024

We are currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 1 with Global Development Delay at one of our friendly and inclusive client primary schools in Cardiff. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support the pupil with their academic and social needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Global Development Delay or similar special educational needs
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of the pupil
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and patient attitude towards supporting children with additional needs
  • Relevant qualifications in education or teaching assistant work

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored support to meet the specific academic and social needs of the pupil. This may involve adapting teaching strategies, materials, and activities to accommodate the pupil's learning style and pace.
  • Maintaining open and regular communication with the pupil's parents or carers, as well as with the class teacher and SENCO. Reporting on the pupil's progress, challenges, and achievements to ensure a collaborative approach to their learning and development.
  • Implementing positive behaviour management strategies to support the pupil in regulating their emotions, promoting positive interactions with peers, and managing any challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil.

Overall, working with a pupil with Global Development Delay requires patience, empathy, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. By fulfilling these responsibilities effectively, you can make a positive impact on the pupil's learning experience and overall well-being in the primary school setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
