SEN Teaching Assistant – Hounslow – College – Teaching Assistant job.

Rate: GBP70 - GBP85 per day.

Teaching Personnel are seeking 3 x SEN Teaching Assistants for a mainstream secondary school / college in the Hounslow area. These are full time positions, working alongside children in KS4 (11-16 year olds) who require support – the students have Autism and Learning difficulties.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should:

  • Have experience working with SEN students
  • Have training or experience in Autism, Makaton, PECS, or be Team Teach trained
  • Be flexible and patient, as the Special Needs will vary
  • Be able to communicate effectively within a team
  • Be committed to work full-time

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Safeguarding the young people and vulnerable adults in your care.
  • Assisting students with special requirements in the classroom.
  • To work successfully alongside the teacher in supporting the students with special requirements.
  • Assisting the students with writing tasks.
  • Conducting communicative tasks where the student is unable to read or write.
  • When necessary, helping the students with administrative tasks.
  • Generally advising the students on where they can seek help, either internally or externally.
  • Be able to use your initiative, skills and expertise to further help and support the students in your care.
  • If necessary, create material to supplement the student’s lesson content.
  • Be very organised, flexible and reliable.
  • To successfully liaise with teachers and administrative staff.
  • Providing a safe and nurturing environment for young people and vulnerable adults to learn.
