Teaching Assistant with SEN Experience – Primary School in Atherton

Start Date: September, Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you want to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing and inclusive primary school environment?

A welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Atherton is seeking a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant with a background in SEN support to join their dedicated team this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who need additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SENCOs, consistently building strong working relationships with staff, pupils and families.
  • Create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment that promotes pupil confidence and engagement.
  • Support classroom activities, assist with preparing learning materials and organising displays.
  • Promote consistent, positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is:

  • Ideally qualified with a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), though experience is the key.
  • Experienced in working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary school or similar educational setting.
  • A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a team.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and committed to inclusion and child wellbeing.
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
