SEN Teacher with QTS for Secondary School

About the Role:

As a SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work closely with our SENCO and teaching staff to deliver tailored learning experiences that meet the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons that are differentiated to support the diverse learning needs of students with SEN.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / Educational Healthcare Plans (EHPs) and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students with a range of SEN, including but not limited to autism, learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioral difficulties.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support and interventions.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Utilise the school's specialist facilities for SEN and sensory activities, ensuring that students have access to appropriate resources and equipment to support their learning and development.
  • Support students who use specialist communication devices, such as AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices, and implement strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to enhance communication skills.
  • Provide differentiated support for students with a range of needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Complex Learning Difficulties, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
  • Specialism or additional training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
