SEND Support – Informal Learning Teacher – South Leeds (LS10)

Daily Rate: £160–£200/day | Full-Time | Long-Term

We are seeking a dedicated and creative Informal Learning Teacher to join a specialist SEND provision in South Leeds (LS10).

This role focuses on delivering informal and semi-formal learning programmes for children and young people with complex needs, autism, PMLD, and communication difficulties. If you are passionate about inclusion and can adapt your teaching style to meet pupils where they are, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Role:

  • Teach a small class group following an informal/semi-formal curriculum, focusing on life skills, communication, and social development.

  • Plan and deliver creative, sensory-based activities that promote engagement and independence.

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and support staff to ensure a consistent, nurturing environment.

  • Implement EHCP targets through a mix of play-based, practical, and experiential learning.

  • Support pupils with moving & handling and personal care where required (training available).

  • Manage behaviour positively using Team Teach strategies (training desirable but not essential).

What We’re Looking For:

  • QTS/QTLS (or equivalent teaching qualification).

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND, PMLD, or ASC is highly desirable.

  • Confident planning and delivering informal/semi-formal learning activities.

  • Flexible, creative, and patient approach to teaching.

  • Enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the Update Service (child/adult welcome).

  • Training in Makaton, Moving & Handling, or Team Teach is an advantage.
