SEN Teacher – West Yorkshire (Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Wakefield)

Daily Rate: £160–£210/day | Full-Time | Short-Term, Long-Term & Temp-to-Perm

We are recruiting experienced and passionate SEN Teachers to work across specialist inclusive learning centres, alternative provisions, and SEN schools throughout West Yorkshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers who are confident working with pupils with complex needs, including SEMH, autism, PMLD, and communication or physical needs.

The Role:

• Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities and learning profiles.

• Lead a team of SEN Teaching Assistants and HLTAs, ensuring EHCP targets are met.

• Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment where pupils feel safe and can succeed.

• Support with moving & handling and personal care where required.

• Use effective communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, and assistive technology.

• Confidently manage behaviour using de-escalation techniques and Team Teach approaches (training desirable).

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – essential.

• SEN teaching experience in a specialist setting, alternative provision, or inclusive school.

• Confidence teaching pupils with SEMH, PMLD, autism, and complex needs.

• Strong differentiation, communication, and behaviour management skills.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (child and/or child & adult workforce)

• Training in Team Teach, Moving & Handling, Makaton, or PECS highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
