SEN Teachers – January Start – Farnborough, Hampshire

Primary and secondary SEN (Special Educational Needs) schools and specialist provisions in Farnborough and the surrounding areas are seeking fully qualified teachers for January start dates. These settings support pupils with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences, and a range of cognitive and developmental needs. Schools are looking for skilled, adaptable, and compassionate teachers who can deliver high-quality, individualised education in specialist environments.

 

About the Pupils and Their Needs

You will be working with pupils who may have:

  • Autism spectrum conditions, including sensory sensitivities and communication differences

  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD)

  • Speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)

  • Social communication challenges

  • Sensory processing differences that may lead to overload or shutdowns

  • Cognitive delays impacting working memory, processing, and problem-solving

  • Anxiety around transitions, unfamiliar tasks, or changes in routine

These pupils thrive with clear structure, visual support, and consistent, patient teaching that supports engagement, communication, and independence.

Role Responsibilities

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver highly differentiated, individualised lessons

  • Work collaboratively with TAs, SENCOs, therapists, and multi-agency staff

  • Use structured teaching methods such as TEACCH, visual supports, and communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton)

  • Create predictable, low-arousal classroom environments

  • Implement EHCP targets and contribute to reviews and specialist assessments

  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote communication, confidence, and independence

  • Engage with parents, carers, and external professionals

  • Support personal care routines where required

Key Details

  • January start dates across multiple SEN settings

  • Full-time roles available; part-time considered in some schools

  • Term-time only

  • Long-term and permanent roles paid to the Teacher Pay Scale (MPS/UPS), dependent on experience

  • Excellent CPD opportunities, including training in autism strategies, communication approaches, and sensory regulation

  • Location: Farnborough and surrounding areas

Requirements

  • QTS or QTLS

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)

  • Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
