Salary: Teacher Pay Scale (M1–M6)

About the School

This charitable, child-centred school offers a warm and highly supportive environment for learners with profound autism, non-verbal communication needs and severe learning difficulties. As part of a charity, the school’s mission goes beyond education: we focus on improving quality of life, promoting independence and creating meaningful opportunities for every child.

Learners live on-site in a homely, nurturing setting, and staff work closely across education and care to make every moment count. Instead of traditional classrooms, learning happens through life skills, structured play, communication, sensory exploration and real-world experiences—while still meeting National Curriculum expectations and the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes.

If you are a teacher who values creativity, purpose and teamwork, you will be joining a community that places compassion and dignity at the heart of everything we do.

Role Overview

As an SEN Teacher, you will take the lead for a small group of four to five children, supported by a committed team. You will:

  • Plan and deliver a bespoke curriculum across the waking day, blending learning, care and life skills

  • Develop and monitor Education & Care Plans, ensuring progress towards individual outcomes

  • Lead and support your staff team, including rota oversight and ongoing coaching

  • Work closely with therapists, behaviour specialists and care colleagues using positive behaviour support and a solution-focused approach

  • Adapt the National Curriculum so it aligns with our meaningful, experience-based learning model

About You

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • Experienced in working with children with severe learning difficulties, autism and behaviours that challenge

  • Compassionate, calm and committed to positive behaviour support (training such as PROACT-SCIPr-UK® can be provided)

  • Skilled at differentiating the curriculum for highly individualised needs

  • Creative, flexible and excited to teach outside the boundaries of a traditional classroom

  • Motivated to lead a small team and uphold high standards of education and care

Benefits

As part of a charity that values its staff, you will receive:

  • Funded qualifications and strong opportunities for career development

  • Free meals during your working day and on-site parking

  • A genuinely impactful role where you help transform children’s daily experiences and prepare them for adult life

Key Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
