Teaching assistant required for moderate learning difficulties school in Erith - start asap!

I am currently working with a large SEN school that caters for students with autism and moderate learning difficulties. Both primary and secondary aged students come to school here, but the current vacancy is for a primary key stage 2 class.

I am looking for a teaching assistant with knowledge of the national curriculum, as many students are able to access the national curriculum levels. You must have good levels of numeracy and literacy and be confident in using ICT.

You must have experience of supporting children with mild to severe autism. Some students are verbal but some are non-verbal and use either PECs or Makaton for communication. Ability to use either of these is highly desirable although training is available.

The role:

  • Full time
  • Starting asap
  • Long term position with the potential to go permanent
  • 1:1 support for different children with autism/moderate learning difficulties in ks2
  • Work hours are 08:30 - 15:50 each day Monday - Friday
  • Providing personal care (toileting and changing) may be involved and you must be prepared to assist with this
