Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Specialist School in Knaresborough who are seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
The school is situated within walking distance of a local train station, has good public transport links and is easily accessible by car from the surrounding areas of Harrogate, Leeds and York.
You will have experience supporting pupils with complex needs and have the ability to implement a differentiated curriculum - designed to meet the social and emotional needs of learners with complex physical and medical needs. You will have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team, including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, medical staff and parents. Pupils may also use alternative communication methods such as PECS or inclusive technology and communication aids, so experience in supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs is desirable. It is also highly desirable that you possess moving and handling and/or team teach training certificates (or have the desire to complete these as part of your role). Due to the nature of pupil needs, it is also essential that you are able to deliver personal care.
Interviews will be taking place in school on Thursday 25th January 2018, so you must be available on this date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates applying to jobs through Teaching Personnel must undertake or have undertaken an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS - Full assistance provided (AGY)
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
