SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant

Job description


Teaching Personnel work with SEN provisions in the Portsmouth and surrounding areas who are looking for Teaching Assistants to work on a one-to-one and small group basis with pupils with complex learning disabilities. Attending pupils can be of Primary and Secondary age, all of which are working toward allocated Educational Health Care Plans.

Class sizes can be as small as 5 pupils and go up to roughly 12 pupils per class.

About the role:

  • One to one or small group support
  • Day time hours (8.30am to 3.30pm)
  • Assisting the class teacher in all aspects of classroom duties
  • Being a positive influence for the pupils and setting a good example

Applicants must:

  • Have a current Child Workforce DBS certificate or be willing to undergo one
  • Have previous experience working with children with Special Needs
  • Be passionate about making a difference in schools
  • Have a minimum of GCSE grades A - C in Maths and English
