SEN / KS4 Teacher Required - Bristol

An independent alternative provision school in Bristol is seeking an experienced teacher to join the school from September 2019.

The school is a forward thinking, full time, alternative education provision for young people in Years 10 and 11. The school is OFSTED rated 'Good' in all areas, and particularly noted that staff have successfully nurtured a caring, inclusive school ethos.

The learners in the school get the individual care and attention that they deserve, as well as therapies and emotional support to empower them in making positive contributions to their community.

The school is seeking an individual that will join the team, with the common moral purpose, which is to help the most vulnerable meet their potential.

About the Role:

  • Full time and Part time role available
  • £22,500-£27,000 Salary

You will be teaching a class size of typically six learners, so you will have the opportunity to really get to know your students.

You will be supported by a range of training opportunities including the possibility of further post graduate learning as well as expert advice from the in house support team of specialist teachers, SENCo, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and an experienced leadership team.

As well as being the class teacher, you will also be a Key Worker to a small number of learners, looking after their pastoral, emotional and social needs, liaising with parents and supporting the young people to be ready to learn.

Requirements:

  • QTS or equivalent qualification
  • A strong desire to have an impact on the lives of vulnerable young people
  • Interest in working holistically with a child centred approach
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) knowledge and experience working with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH); although not essential
