Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a special needs teaching assistant for a large primary school located in Dewsbury (WF13) who are committed to providing exceptional education and support to all pupils, including those with special educational needs. With a warm and inclusive learning environment, we strive to create a positive and engaging atmosphere where all students can thrive. The school has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted, a testament to their dedicated staff and the high standards they uphold.

Position:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide vital support to students in Key Stage 1. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the education and well-being of pupils with special needs.

Start Date - June - 2024

Hours - Full-Time 8:30-3:30

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to provide individual and group support to students with special educational needs in Key Stage 1.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the specific needs of students, ensuring their full participation in the curriculum.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies, tracking progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, promoting emotional well-being and encouraging independence among students.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to create a supportive network for students with special needs and their families.
  • Provide personal care and support as required, and always ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining effective communication and promoting a partnership approach to education.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs or a related field.
  • Previous experience working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 1.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of students with special needs.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual needs.
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and techniques for supporting students with special needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
