Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?

Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit full-time SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of educational settings in the Liverpool area from September 2025. These include:

  • Mainstream schools

  • SEN schools

  • Alternative provisions (APs)

  • Pupil referral units (PRUs)

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. You might be:

✔ An experienced SEN Teaching Assistant
✔ From a residential care, youth work, or sports coaching background
✔ A Psychology graduate eager to apply your theoretical understanding in a practical setting
✔ Someone with a genuine desire to support young people with social, emotional, or behavioural needs

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs

  • Helping manage behaviour and promote positive learning experiences

  • Assisting the class teacher and working closely with SENCOs and other support staff

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

Essential Requirements:

  • A proactive, compassionate, and adaptable approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience supporting children or young people (formal or informal)

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential to work in schools)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
