Job description

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of mainstream and specialist SEN schools in the Wirral area. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

You will be working closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in school, care, or youth settings)
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient nature
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma, Psychology degree) – desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
