SEN Learning Support Assistant job, Plymouth

An all-age through SEN school located in Plymouth are currently recruiting for a Behaviour specialist Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis to support pupils with ASC and challenging behaviour.

About the role:

• SEN Teaching Assistant
• Supporting a pupil with challenging behaviour and ASC
• Long Term Full Time (Monday to Friday 8:30 - 15:30), term time only
• Start Immediately
• Working in a small class with pupils led by a class teacher and supported by another 2 Teaching Assistants

About the School:

This SEN School in Plymouth caters for children and young people with a wide range of learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs. All the pupils have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The ideal candidate / desired skills and experience:

• Available to start immediately
• Commit to a full time long term role (5 days a week)
• PECS and/or Makaton experience
• MAPA or Team Teach (or equivalent positive handling training)
• SEMH/SEN experience
• Engaging personality
• The ability to build strong relationships
• Teaching assistant/ Learning Support Assistant
• Youth work / Support Work / Care Work/ Sports background
