Do you have the patience, empathy, and energy to be a consistent, positive presence in a young person’s life?

Teaching Personnel is working closely with specialist SEND schools across Brighton and Brighton & Hove, supporting both primary and secondary aged pupils with Autism and ADHD. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Friendly Support Mentor to join these inclusive and nurturing school communities.

The Role – Friendly Support Mentor

This is a highly rewarding role where you will work 1:1 with pupils, building strong, trusting relationships and providing consistent support throughout the school day. You will act as a reliable role model, helping students regulate emotions, engage with learning, and develop confidence both socially and academically.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support to pupils with Autism and ADHD

  • Building meaningful, trusting relationships through patience and consistency

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Helping pupils access lessons and structured activities

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have previous SEND experience (essential)

  • Be available for full-time work

  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Child Only Enhanced DBS

  • Be resilient, nurturing, and confident supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Be committed to being a strong, dependable role model

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
