Job description

We are currently recruiting a full-time Behaviour Buddy to work across specialist and mainstream education settings in the Brighton & Hove area. This is a rewarding opportunity for a confident, outgoing and personable individual who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND and PMLD, and who can act as a strong, positive role model.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support to primary and secondary-aged pupils.

  • Support learners with a range of SEND needs, including PMLD, adapting strategies to suit individual abilities and communication styles.

  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement with learning.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may come from challenging or complex upbringings.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to implement behaviour and support plans.

  • Promote a calm, consistent and encouraging environment both in and out of the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting both primary and secondary pupils.

  • Proven experience within SEND settings, including PMLD.

  • Confident, outgoing, relatable and likeable, with a natural ability to engage young people.

  • Able to act as a strong role model, demonstrating positive boundaries, resilience and empathy.

  • Comfortable supporting pupils with behavioural challenges, additional needs, or adverse life experiences.

  • Calm, patient and consistent, with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
