Cover Supervisor

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-respected secondary school in Horndean. This full-time role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience or explore a future career in teaching.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for supervising classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of their regular teachers, ensuring learning continues effectively. You’ll deliver pre-prepared lessons, maintain a calm and focused classroom environment, and support students across a range of subjects. The role may also involve providing additional support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and supervise pre-set lesson plans across multiple subjects for students aged 11–16.

• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.

• Keep pupils engaged, motivated, and on task throughout lessons.

• Offer appropriate support to SEN students when required.

• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and conduct.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils is desirable, ideally with some SEN exposure.

• Confident classroom management and the ability to adapt quickly to different situations.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

• A proactive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people in their education.
