Special Needs Teaching Assistants – Winchester

A highly respected specialist primary school in Winchester is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic individuals to join its supportive team as Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs). This is a rewarding and impactful role that involves working with children who present a diverse range of additional needs, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication and interaction challenges, and sensory processing needs. Successful candidates will play a key part in helping pupils develop their skills, confidence, and independence within a nurturing and well-structured learning environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work collaboratively with class teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver high-quality, child-centred support. Your daily responsibilities may include adapting classroom activities to suit individual learning styles, encouraging positive behaviour, facilitating communication, and contributing to sensory, play-based, or therapeutic interventions. The role may also involve offering personal care or mobility support when required, ensuring that each pupil can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.

The school is seeking applicants who are patient, reliable, and genuinely committed to supporting children with additional needs. While previous experience in education, care, or youth work is advantageous, it is not essential; individuals with a strong willingness to learn and a caring approach are warmly encouraged to apply.
