Vacancy: Learning Support Assistant – Full Time (Term Time Only)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist primary school in the Shawford area. This is a rewarding role supporting pupils aged 4–11 with moderate learning difficulties and associated needs within a structured, nurturing and supportive school environment.

Working closely with teachers and the wider support team, you will help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, build confidence and independence, and manage their emotions and behaviour positively.

About the Role

As an LSA, you may provide one-to-one, small-group and classroom support, helping pupils to engage with lessons and activities and overcome barriers to learning. You will build positive relationships with children, encourage independence and provide consistent support throughout the school day.

The role may include:

• Supporting pupils with learning and communication needs

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support

• Encouraging confidence, independence and social development

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning

• Working closely with teachers and other professionals

• Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and other activities

About You

We welcome applications from candidates with a range of backgrounds. Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is beneficial, but transferable experience in education, childcare, care, youth work or similar roles will also be considered.
