Location: Cardiff, South Wales
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year

Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient and dedicated SEN Learning Mentor to join a specialist school in Cardiff, working with pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of additional learning needs. The school supports learners with autism, physical and medical difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe and moderate learning difficulties, and a small number with sensory impairments. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role supporting pupils 1:1 with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and confident in building positive relationships. You should be able to stay calm under pressure and use effective strategies to manage challenging situations. Flexibility is essential, as you will be working with pupils across a wide range of ages and abilities. Your resilience and positive approach will help create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can thrive.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours, or experience in care, or youth support settings is desirable.
- Ability to provide consistent 1:1 and small group support
- Effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Commitment to fostering engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Willingness to assist with mobility and sensory needs
✅Requirements (or willingness to obtain at own cost)
- Must be 18 or over
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- Two professional references covering 24 months of employment
