Teaching Personnel works with a large number of primary schools in the Cardiff area, many of which are mainstream primary schools. Many of these schools work on a behaviour support scheme which introduces a teaching assistant to a class to particularly focus on improving behaviour with certain groups of pupils. Sometimes this requires working one-to-one or with a small group of pupils, as well as working to generally support the class.

Quite a lot of our vacancies for teaching assistants tend to be behaviour support, such as; one-to-one role positions.

What schools tend to look for in teaching assistants for these types of positions, would have experience dealing with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges that lead to challenging behaviour, and ideally be Team Teach trained.

You would not be phased by high tariff behaviour and be confident de-escalating behaviour and at times using restraining techniques. Experience working as a one-to-one teaching assistant would be beneficial.

Team Teach training would be advantageous, however if you do not have this training Teaching Personnel do run regular courses which you can enrol on to gain this qualification.

Ideal applicants would have their own transport and be happy traveling around Cardiff if necessary.
