SEMH Teaching Assistant

Job description

A school in Blackpool are seeking Teaching Assistants to support the needs of students with SEMH.

The school offers provision for a range of students aged between 6 and 16, across KS2, KS3 and KS4, as a result of Managed Moves, Permanent Exclusions or out of area placements.

The schools' teaching and learning approach provides students with a holistic and tailored curriculum, within which they are encouraged to make positive behavioural choices.

Each Key Stage takes a different approach:

Within the KS2 provision, there is a thematic approach which is taught alongside key subjects, and all students are taught within a single class, dependent upon numbers.

KS3 has students in classes for their respective ages, which mirrors the provision offered in mainstream settings. The key subjects offered follow in line with the National Curriculum taught within mainstream schools.

Within the KS4 provision, pupils have access to a traditional curriculum with the expectation that they will follow GCSE examinations and/or level one and two accredited qualifications. Pupils are also offered an enriched curriculum to study more practical subjects within a workshop environment, therefore experience in this area would be desirable.

The school are seeking candidates with experience across KS2, KS3 or KS4 and are particularly interested in those who have supported pupils with SEMH.

You will have the ability to support pupils across the curriculum, whilst having strong behaviour management.

You must have SEN experience however, this doesnt necessarily have to be from a school-based environment and can be from Youth Work, Alternative Provisions, Support Work etc.

The role is to start ASAP and the working hours will be approx 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday.

Please send a copy of your CV to if you wish to be considered.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
