An Alternative Provision in Bournemouth is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team.
- Full time (Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 - 16:15)
- £11.85 per hour
- Location - Bournemouth
- Start date - ASAP
What you need to know about the school:
The school is a specialist provision providing day education for students aged 11-16 years old with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. A number of our students also have a range of additional needs which include attachment disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autistic spectrum conditions (ASC). All students at the school have an EHCP. They support the long-term personal and academic achievements of their students which builds self-esteem and gives them the confidence to face new challenges. The needs of the students are met in a small, nurturing environment with a highly differentiated curriculum and exceptional student-staff relationships.
The Role
- Supporting the teaching and learning of SEN pupils across the school, working with struggling pupils or those who have become stifled by the curriculum.
- Helping students meet their potential through smaller booster groups and 1:1 sessions.
- Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- Working closely with the SENCO to monitor and advance developments in both academic and social areas.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children of special educational needs, however this isn't a necessity. Due to the nature of the students a patient, caring and compassionate approach is needed. You need to be flexible, energetic, and ideally have experience of working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs. However, training will be provided for the right candidate. This role could be suitable for a candidate with an interest in pursuing a career in teaching or learning support. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
