We are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit in the Tameside area, which caters for pupils at KS2, KS3 and KS4 level, they are looking for behaviour focused Teachers to encourage learning in the classroom to help integration back into mainstream education. The school are looking for teachers with various subject specialisms with a desired preference of SEN/SEMH teaching experience.

The School

The school supports pupils from Key Stage 2 up to Key Stage 4 level for a short term period, to assist and guide them in developing their social and emotional skills and fill in any gaps in their education with the aspiration of returning to mainstream education. Many of the students wihin the provision suffer with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and some with learning disabilities, which in turn has caused challenging behaviour and an inability to cope in a traditional school.

The school allows teachers to offer creative and explorative elements to their lessons and teaching practices. The school’s aim is to be a place of excellence and help their learners to achieve their best - socially, personally and academically. The school offers a dynamic and unique curriculum which has been based on the National curriculum in order to fulfil the full potential of its pupils. Within the classes themselves, small groups of pupils are supported by both a teacher and at least one teaching assistant.

Your Role 

The role as a Teacher will vary from day to day and the school are looking for someone who can make a real difference in the children’s lives; someone who is robust and persistent while also of a caring nature.

Requirements:

  • QTS
  • NQTs are also welcomed to apply
  • Relevant experience working with SEN/SEMH
  • Know how to manage and deal with challenging behaviours at times
  • High expectations for all students and the determination to help all pupils succeed
  • The ability to work effectively in a team of teachers, support staff and outside agencies
