Are you driven to make a real impact on young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? You’ll be supporting pupils who may struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment issues, emotional regulation, trauma-related behaviours, or ongoing behavioural challenges.

A specialist provision in the Gorton area is looking for a resilient, committed SEMH Teacher to join its team through an exciting new partnership with Teaching Personnel. This partnership means Teaching Personnel is now the exclusive recruitment provider for the trust, giving you priority access to all roles across their schools

About the Provision

The school is a well-established alternative education setting supporting pupils aged 11–16. The provision offers smaller class sizes, a highly skilled pastoral team, and a curriculum designed to re-engage young people in education through a blend of academic, vocational and nurture-based learning. The team is passionate about helping pupils build confidence, change negative patterns, and make sustained progress both academically and personally.


The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons adapted to pupils with diverse SEMH needs
  • Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with behaviour specialists, Pastoral assistant and Classroom support staff
  • Use trauma-informed practice to manage behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils re-engage with education

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills using positive, restorative approaches
  • The ability to differentiate lessons to meet varying needs and abilities
  • A resilient, compassionate and patient approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
