SEMH Pupil Referal Unit Support

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in Salford. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, including those who have been disengaged or excluded from mainstream education, ensuring their holistic development and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement personalised education plans, adapting teaching methods and interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem and confidence while providing non-judgmental support for their mental health challenges and emotional needs.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, addressing any underlying emotional or behavioral issues as they arise.
  • Support the classroom teacher in providing 1:1 and small group interventions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with challengening behaviour preferred
  • Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as Teaching Assistance, Special Educational Needs (SEN), or Psychology advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and empathy
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
