SEMH KS2 Teaching Assistant

Key things:

Tameside school.

Work with a boy in year 4 with Social and Emotional needs, forming a strong bond with the pupil to support him in the classroom.

De-escalate outbursts in the classroom through positive praise and individual reward system.

The Candidate:

The school are looking for someone who has an excellent rapport with children and can build a strong relationship with children. The right candidate will be really motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and can work efficiently in a team to improve pupil attainment. The right person will have experience with children with behavioural difficulties and preferably will have Team Teach training. They will work as a one to one with the pupil with the aim of developing the student's independence and eventually move into a more whole class TA role.

The class teacher is eager to get someone in place quickly who is reliable and happy to work with the pupil both in and out of class. The pupil does have triggers to their behaviour and knowing how to de-escalate and stop any outbursts will take time but will ensure the child remains in the classroom.

The School:

The school have a strong, supportive staff structure, and are always happy to help and give guidance should you need it. The head teacher puts a lot of emphasis on staff development and all members of staff go out for training days continuously throughout the year, from Team-Teaching to Safe-Guarding all is covered. Upon entering the school the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and classrooms standards are extremely high, with interactive displays to promote independent learning.
