Secondary- Teaching Assistant - Team- Teach

A specialist school in Oldham are currently looking to recruit a part- time Teaching Assistant in September 2017. Initially the position is temporary for the first term September- October 2017. However there may be an opportunity for permanent dependent on the need of the school.

The setting provides education for pupils 11-16 who are being educated outside of mainstream schools. Pupils who attend the setting may be being educated out of mainstream for a variety of reasons including: social, emotional and mental health needs and pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour. The main aim of the setting is to support pupils and integrate them back into a mainstream; however this is not always possibility.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have experience planning and delivering interventions and implementing strategies to support the optimal development of pupils. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for building and maintaining close working relationships with pupils who often display signs of challenging behaviour. The ideal Teaching Assistant will also have experience planning and delivering specialised interventions which are designed to support pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour in reaching their optimal educational potential.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Teaching Assistant will have:

• A level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• A passion for supporting the optimal development of pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
• An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
• Team- Teach training (can be provided)
• An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics
