KS3/KS4 SEN Teacher - Didsbury, Stockport - September 2017

An Ofsted 'OUTSTANDING' secondary special needs school in Didsbury, Stockport hope to recruit a specialist KS3/KS4 SEN Teacher from September 2017.

This school is a 98 place school that supports pupils with complex medical, communication and physical needs. Some children also have social and emotional needs that can result in challenging behaviours. The school caters for pupils aged 4 - 16 throughout 10 mixed ability classes.

Pupil’s communication needs result in alternative methods of communication being used around school, such as iPads, PECs, Braille and BSL. Promoting independence is a main focus within this 'Outstanding’ school therefore staff that share this passion is essential.

The Headteacher is looking for an SEN teacher who has experience of teaching in a special needs school, primary or secondary. The children are currently working between levels P1 to NCL 2 so you must be able to differentiate and adapt lessons accordingly.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils in this school, you must -

* Have QTS and experience teaching Special Educational Needs

* Have solid experience of working within a specialist school

* Be familiar with P-levels and NCL

* Be able to communicate non-verbally using PECS

* Ideally be Team-Teach trained (Teaching Personnel provide the training)
