Job description
Secondary Sports Mentor
Teaching Personnel are looking for sport graduates or people from sporting backgrounds to support Key Stage 4 pupils within a Specialist School. As a Sports Mentor in one of our specialist Cardiff schools, you will play a fundamental role in developing students' physical abilities and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. The hours of the job are 8.30am - 3:30pm and the pay rates are from £89.38 per day.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the teacher to have the students being active inside and outside of the classroom.
- Promote wellbeing and an active lifestyle to support the pupils with their physical and mental health.
- Support pupils with challenging behaviours unlock their potential and maximise their success.
- Collaborate with other members of the school staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
The role will require someone who is resilient and adaptable as the school caters for 11-18 year olds with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties who may display challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will have a true passion for helping young people from all walks of life.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS.
- EWC registered.
- Be able to provide 2 of your most recent references.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have up to date safeguarding training. (Provided for free by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
