Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

We work with a number of schools in the area who are looking for support staff to assist students with SEN needs. Their needs may cover moderate to severe or complex and will require a range of abilities to handle.
We're looking for motivated individuals with a passion for helping people learn. Supporting children with SEN needs is not your average care or TA role; you become a mentor, a role model, an advisor and most importantly a person they can rely on for help.

You will mainly help them with their learning needs inside the classroom, be it breaking down the work so they can understand, working through it with them or even being creative and making it easier for them to understand. The classes are specially designed to suit the learners so the curriculum is varied and entertaining, designed to keep them engaged and motivated to learn. Your role is to help maintain their interest, focus and enjoyment in the classroom.

Some of the children may also have other needs, including personal care or even need assistance with communicating, by using pictures (PECS) or sign language (BSL/ Makaton), so if a candidate has training in these areas it would be useful and transferable.

If you would like to apply, please send your CV to annie.masters-

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
