Full-time Science teacher required - Mixed comprehensive secondary school - Bury

Are you a qualified Science teacher wishing to secure a fixed term teaching position this academic year, with opportunities for progression? Do you have a record of outstanding teaching practice?

Our client secondary school have an open vacancy within their Science department for an innovative Science teacher to start from April 2019, or sooner if possible. This opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion and will initially be fixed for the academic year 2018/2019. There will be a permanent position available for the successful Science teacher from September 2019 following the initial success of the first term.

  • Full-time Science teacher required, any specialism welcome to apply (Chemistry, Biology or Physics). Easter 2019 start date.
  • Teaching Key Stage Three and GCSE, departmental responsibilities of planning and marking required throughout this position.
  • Initially fixed for two terms, with a permanent post available from September 2019.
  • Pay in line with teaching scale point (£23,720 - £39,406 per annum)
  • Mixed comprehensive secondary school, Bury location - accessible via the M66 motorway.

Our client secondary school is situated in the heart of Bury town centre, and has been referred to as the 'hub of the community' as they serve a diverse catchment area and take an inclusive approach to education. The school is local to a number of public transportation links from both central Manchester and Rochdale. For drivers, the school is just a short drive from the M66 making the surrounding areas; Rochdale, Oldham, Prestwich, Bolton and Rossendale easily commutable. Ofsted describe the support given by staff to be 'second to none', and the school currently have a 'Good' grading.

The incoming Science teacher will have access to new equipment, large Science labs and open learning spaces to promote 'exciting and diverse' practical lessons.

The school have recently progressed through a transitional period under the close guidance of the newly appointed Head teacher, and are already observing positive changes in pupil outcomes and attitudes to learning across the school. New plans have emerged to rebuild certain areas of the school to ensure all learning spaces are utilised to their full potential, including the incorporation of core subject 'Hubs' whereby revision sessions and activities can take place.
