School Exams Officer
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Exams Officer to join a highly reputable and large Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in Southampton, Hampshire. This is a permanent, full-time position, offering the chance to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking education community.
As Exams Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective administration of all public and internal exams. The successful candidate will be highly organized, with a strong attention to detail, and have a deep understanding of exam regulations and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the smooth running of all public examinations, including GCSEs, A-Levels, and vocational qualifications.
- Ensure compliance with all examination board requirements, including adhering to deadlines, regulations, and policies.
- Manage the exam timetable, coordinating with academic staff to ensure rooms, resources, and invigilators are in place.
- Act as the main point of contact for exam boards, candidates, and staff.
- Coordinate and support the recruitment and training of exam invigilators.
- Maintain accurate records of exam entries, results, and any required documentation.
- Provide advice and guidance to students and staff on exam-related matters.
- Ensure the secure storage and handling of examination papers, scripts, and results.
- Address any candidate special requirements or reasonable adjustments, liaising with relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an Exams Officer role or in a similar administrative capacity within an educational setting.
- Excellent knowledge of exam regulations and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and under pressure.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of using exam management software and systems (e.g., SIMS, Examination Systems).
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable:
- A relevant qualification in education or administration.
- Experience of working within a large MAT or multi-school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
