Psychology Graduate jobs in Primary Schools - Islington

A small and unique school in Angel, Islington are currently looking for Psychotherapy and SEN assistants to join their team in September.

The role will involve supporting a child in Year 3 with Autism-Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Challenging Behaviour. They are looking for someone who may have had experience in the following;

- Strong behaviour management

- Working 1-1

- Able to carry out intervention programmes

- Support a child's emotional needs

- Manage Challenging Behaviour

- Child (Y3) needs Social, Emotional and Mental Health support

The school has been graded Ofsted 'Outstanding' in their most recent inspection. This is something the school is very proud of as it shows their commitment and strive to providing excellent education for their pupils. The school ethos surrounds the idea of inspiration and providing an exciting curriculum where pupils are challenged to learn more.

This school in particular is known for it's amazing array of extra-curricular activities - so if you're into any of the below, it could be an even better reason to apply! : Street Dance, Drama, Multisport (for KS1 and 2), Karate, Homework Support, Art, Mandarin, Keyboards and Songwriting, Football, Gymnastics, Archaeology (at Camden Museum), Creative Club, Mini Music, Gutsy Girls, Book Club, Debate Mate.

The special educational needs and disabilities department will offer a great amount of support when you join their team. You will also benefit from learning from specialists such as: Education Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and other medical professionals. The school also offers various different training courses conducted both internally and externally to aid you with your development.

The school have close links with local theatre companies, as well as the Royal College of Music. This allows both pupils and staff to immerse themselves in the Arts and learn from professional musicians, dramatists and dancers. This is supported by weekly music and arts lessons and extra-curricular activities such as the school orchestra.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • 1st Class or 2:1 degree (Education/ Psychology related preferred)
  • Experience working within a classroom/education related setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the primary curriculum
  • Confidence working with children independently
  • Be able to lead large group activities
  • Have an animated personality and be a strong team player
  • Takes constructive feedback/developing your own skills
  • High standard of numeracy and literacy
  • English, Maths and Science GCSE (A-C)
  • Ability to adapt easily to different situations
  • Committed to improving children's life chances

We will be interviewing for this position from the 30th June and they are looking for someone to start in September. The school have announced that there will be permanent offers made to the right support staff at the end of next academic year. If successful, a trial at the school will take place shortly after.
