Psychology Graduate – Behaviour and Mental Health Support
Location: Sunderland
Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Are you a Psychology graduate looking for meaningful, hands-on experience in behaviour and mental health support? Teaching Personnel is working with specialist education settings across Sunderland to recruit graduates ready to make a difference in the lives of young people.
These schools support students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have been excluded from mainstream education and require tailored support to re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges
- Implement behaviour strategies developed by SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage positive outcomes
- Support safeguarding and promote student wellbeing
This Role is Ideal for Psychology Graduates Who
- Have a genuine interest in mental health, behaviour, or educational support
- Are exploring careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or Teaching
- Have experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential)
- Are resilient, calm under pressure, and confident in managing challenging behaviour

Requirements
- A degree in Psychology or a related subject
- Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide suitable references
- A proactive, open-minded approach and a strong desire to learn

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
