PRU Teaching Assistant Support job in Croydon

A Pupil Referral Unit is looking for a TA Support worker to assist pupils with ADHD, Complex Learning Difficulties, Social Emotional and Mental Health and Challenging Behaviour.

You may be required to support pupils on a 1:1 basis, as well as 2:1, or a small group, with varying levels of SEN. Therefore, it is essential that you can tailor the support to suit the pupils' needs. You will be expected to engage with the pupils and build their self-confidence, with the aim of equipping them with educational and social skills and qualifications.

This role is suitable for those with previous experience as a youth worker, peer co-ordinator, teacher for youth offenders, children's charity worker. Involvement in projects that support pupils with difficulties is also favourable.

Experience in alternative teaching methods, such as self-esteem building activities, learning through music, colour therapy, Self-reflection sessions, and teaching self-recognition for patterns of behaviour is very favourable.

We welcome confident, energetic, empathetic, caring people with a background in Psychology, Sports, Performing Arts, Music.

Additional requirements include:

• A Child Work Force DBS on the updated system
• 2 Excellent employment references

Relevant training, such as Team Teach, First Aid, Health & Safety in Education, Mental Health & Well-being in Children and Young People, are all desirable but not essential. Teaching Personnel do encourage our teachers to complete training courses, therefore we do offer opportunities for courses either for free or at a highly subsidised rate.
