Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to education and make positive progress?

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Progress Mentor / Attendance Officer to join a college on the Fylde Coast on a full-time basis, covering an absence within the  pastoral team.

This is a varied role that would suit someone with experience in pastoral support, attendance, mentoring, behaviour support or working 1:1 with young people. The ideal candidate will be comfortable delivering targeted sessions to pupils as well as providing individual support to help improve engagement, attendance and progress.

The Role

As a Progress Mentor / Attendance Officer, your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 mentoring and support to identified pupils.
• Delivering targeted sessions to help pupils improve their engagement and progress.
• Supporting students who may be experiencing barriers to attending school regularly.
• Monitoring pupil attendance and identifying patterns or concerns.
• Following up on absence and working with pupils to encourage improved attendance.
• Building positive, professional relationships with students who require additional support.
• Working closely with the school's pastoral, attendance and safeguarding teams.
• Liaising with teaching staff and other colleagues regarding pupil progress and attendance.
• Maintaining accurate records of interventions, attendance and pupil support.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards their education.

About You

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have experience working as a:

• Progress Mentor
• Attendance Officer
• Pastoral Support Worker
• Learning Mentor
• Behaviour Mentor
• Family Support Worker
• Teaching Assistant with strong pastoral experience

Experience working with secondary-aged pupils would be highly desirable.

We are also happy to consider candidates whose experience is predominantly within school attendance, rather than the wider Progress Mentor responsibilities.

The Position

• Full-time: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
• Start date: Monday / ASAP
• Contract: Temporary absence cover
• Duration: Initially short-term, with the exact length of the placement to be confirmed
